COMPOST3D®2 is a home compostable PLA alternative filament with 70% biobased content. It offers easy, PLA-like printability, a silky surface finish with minimal layer lines, and biodegrades by at least 60% within 150 days in a home compost — without leaving microplastics behind.
COMPOST3D®2 – Home Compostable PLA Alternative Filament
The next generation of sustainable 3D printing.
COMPOST3D®2 is a home-compostable filament co-developed by B4Plastics and brought to market by FormFutura. Made from roughly 70% biobased content sourced mainly from hemicellulosic waste streams, it was designed for makers, designers, educators and brands who want a genuinely sustainable alternative to standard PLA — without giving up easy, reliable printing.
Unlike many "biodegradable" filaments that only break down in industrial composting plants, COMPOST3D®2 is engineered to degrade in a normal home compost bin, breaking down by at least 60% within 150 days and leaving no microplastic residue behind.

Settings are a starting point — fine-tune to your specific printer and setup. For best first-layer adhesion, FormFutura recommends using EasyFix Nr. I, especially on larger prints.
Storage
Store at room temperature (≈18–25 °C) in a dry, dark place with humidity below 15%. Properly stored, the filament has a shelf life of 24 months. Drying before printing is recommended for best results.
Compatible with most standard FDM/FFF printers (Bambu Lab, Prusa, Creality, Ultimaker, Elegoo, Raise3D, SnapMaker and others).
